Ureteral Stricture
UPJO
Asymptomatic UPJO should be treated carefully. One retrospective study found 36% of patients who were asymptomatic prior to pyeloplasty had pain after the procedure. (3)
BALLOON DILATION
At 3 years, 33-83% of benign strictures are successfully treated after endoscopic treatment. Location of stricture has implications for success rates with 33-69% proximal, 50-67% mid and 53-83% distal. (1) For distal strictures with intact blood supply <2cm the success rate can be as high as 89% but if 2cm or more this drops to 38% with some studies showing 0% success at 12 months. (2)
TRANS U-U
Consider this is if reconstructing in radiated field.
